As you will notice throughout our website, Buxton Funeral Home is the only locally owned and operated funeral home in Okeechobee. We have been in operation since August of 1980 and have seen many changes in the growth and development of the community and are proud to have raised and educate our four children in this county.

We live in Okeechobee, support Okeechobee and also the surroundng counties of Highlands and Glades. We are available to assit in conducting services anywhere in the State of Florida and are well versed in out of state shipping, as well as, International Consulate rules and regulations for International shipping.

We invite cost comparison and welcome visitors to tour our facilities. We offer many options of funded or non-funded Pre-Arrangements. If you currently have a Pre-Arrangement with another funeral home, you can stop by and let us look at your contract, and in many cases you can transfer to our funeral home and receive a refund.

Please remember, Buxton Funeral Home is not a business, it is regarded and handled as a ministry dedicated to serve, to care and regard your loved one as if they were a member of our own family. Answering the phones 24 hours a day, we respond immediately upon being notified of the death.

Since the inception of our ministry, we have consistently been committed to the community. Various involvements have included founding Hospice of Okeechobee, several years involvement with the American Red Cross, Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce, American Business Women's Association, as well as the Masonic Lodge and the Okeechobee Shrine Club. Board positions are held on the Okeechobee Non-Profit Organization and additional memberships include the Son's of the American Legion, Main Street Organization and Chairmanship of the Non-Alcholic Grad Night celebration.

Buxton Funeral Home has been regular supporters of the Future Farmers Educational Program, heavily involved in career days at the various schools and annual supporters of various school sport sponsorships. Memberships are held in Kiwanis of Okeechobee, the Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. We are very proud to be members of the International Organization of Selected Independent Funeral Directors Association, which is obtained by invitation only, Independent Funeral Directors of Florida, and the Tri County Funeral Directors Association. Paul M. Buxton has also had the priviledge of serving on the International Board of Directors. Buxton Funeral Home takes pride in complying with all Federal, State and Local laws that govern our industry and in our history of existence, have never received a deficiency.
